“It is our perfect place to live”
Bath residents, Euan Spence (28) and Maxine von Eye (28) waited over a year to find their dream home and are now one of the first to move in to The Residence at SouthGate in the centre of Bath.
The couple, who have lived in Lansdown Road for two years, watched with interest when the SouthGate Centre was being re-developed. They were one of the first people to view the apartments, situated across four houses in the centre of the SouthGate Centre, and immediately fell in love with the modern development.
“It is our perfect place to live” said Maxine. “I work in Bristol and commute by train daily; the location is perfect for that because we are literally two minutes from the train and bus stations. I’ve knocked about 30 minutes off my travelling time.”
When the opportunity cropped up, the couple jumped at the chance to buy a 887 square foot, two bedroom apartment on the top floor of Phillip House, complete with fitted kitchen and bathroom.
“It really is a hidden secret - that’s what else we love about it. People assume that as you are living above the busy shopping district and that it’s noisy and impersonal. It is quite the opposite. Once you enter the building and come out of the lift it’s like you’re in your own haven with a lovely courtyard and fantastic views across the city.”
Euan, who is a researcher at Bath University adds: “As first time buyers we assumed the price would be too prohibitive, but it wasn’t, and we came in just below the stamp duty threshold which obviously saved us quite a bit of money.”
“The other benefit is that we don’t have to buy anything to move in with, it’s all there, lovely wooden flooring, new kitchen with appliances all ready and waiting, we are very excited.”
There are 74 private apartments available to buy at the The Residence at SouthGate. Prices start from £185,000. For more information or to arrange a viewing please call 01225 480228 or visit the contact page »
